Yesanpo
BRIEF INTRODUCTION Yesanpo is a national grade 4-A scenic spot. It lies in the depth of the Taihang Mountains, 75 kilometers northwest of Laishui County Seat. It is a comprehensive natural scenic spot with mountains, rivers, springs and caves; flowers, grass and trees; birds, beasts, fish and insects; as well as cultural relics and places of interests. And it is noted for being grand, perilous, peculiar serene and " wild ".
The total area of the scenic spot is 600 square kilometers with more than 100 scenic spots. At " Hundred-li Valley ", the towering grotesque rocks, bold cliffs and all sorts of strange shapes of karst landscapes form a natural art gallery. By the " Juma River ", the weather is cool and the environment is serene, and it is an ideal summer resort. There are also the singing and dancing performances by such minorities as Miao, Tulung, Lisu and Mosuo. At " Longmentianguan ", you can see the largest group of inscriptions on precipices in North China, grand and magnificent splashed-ink landscape paintings on the rocks, boundless primitive forests and waterfalls. At each Grain Rain (6th solar term), fish will spring out of " Yugu Cave ", and this phenomenon is regarded as a wonder of the world. There are 15 varieties of plants and 159 kinds of wild vertebrates at " Baicao Meadow ". Vast and dense vegetation and various species form a harmonious environment, so it can be called a " Natural Arboretum " and " Kingdom of Wild Animals ". " Jinhua Mountain " has 10,000 mu of green forest, the magnificent and graceful Lala Lake Fall, the towering l,000-year-old gingkoes and the brilliant historic building, and Qingchan Temple. " Sanhuang Mountain " is the " sacred site of the three emperors " and Fuxi (Emperor of the Heaven), Shennong (Emperor of the Earth), Xuanyuan (Emperor of Human Beings) are enshrined and worshipped here.
TOURIST GUIDE The best time to travel at Yesanpo is from April to October. During May Day holidays, you have to reserve a room. Besides, the hometown of Zu Chongzhi, a famous mathematician and astronomer in ancient China, is in Xiacheting Village, 5 kilometers northwest of Laishui County Seat.
SERVICES There are more than 90 hotels, 270 household inns and restaurants and 110 shops. There are more than ten minority villages, such as Miao village. In these villages, there are not only many houses for tourists to stay in, but also board and lodging and service of national traits. Specially prepared buses will pick you up and send you to the scenic spots. At night, there are such activities as barbecue on the bonfire, Karaoke singing, national singing and dancing and performance of wedding customs.
HOW TO GET THERE If you come from Beijing, you can first drive along Beijing-Shenzhen Expressway, get off at Fangshan Exit and then drive southwest 70 kilometers to get there. If you come from Tianjin, you can drive northwest along G112 to Laishui County Seat, and drive northward along Baoye Road to Zhangfang, and then drive northwest to get there. If you come from Shijiazhuang or Baoding, you can drive northward along Baoye Road. You can also take a train from Beijing to Taiyuan or Lingqiu. In tourist season, there will be a special train from Beijing to Yesanpo. Good transportation makes it convenient for you to get there.
